ST. LUKE’S HOSPITAL (Global City, Taguig) A seismic study was conducted with the purpose of determining the degree of risk for the hospital considering its location related to the West Valley Fault System.
EDC-NASUJI 40Me POWER PLANT PROJECT (Negros Oriental) - 2002 The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate the risk of constructing a power plant within the Nasuji Fault. A site specific seismicity study was undertaken to determine if the movement of the fault underneath the Proposed 20Mwe power plant. The recent M6.7 earthquake on 06 February 2012 confirmed the veracity of the study.
VULNERABILITY STUDY OF THE LEYTE GEOTHERMAL – 1998 A vulnerability risk analysis study was conducted for the Leyte Geothermal Areawhose total generating capacity is 800Mwe to protect any major plant damage for a potential magnitude M7+ near the site. This resulted in the construction of rock fall shelters to protect the pipelines from landslides. On 08 May 2000, two earthquakes of M5.4 near the predicted location. The anticipated areas of landslides matched the actual. There were no damages to the geothermal pipelines and no stoppage in power generation.
MCC Tower Building (Ayala Ave., Makati) -1992 The design acceleration was determined for the design of this 30-storey building by using the simulation model developed by C.M. Villaraza.
